Meet Our Team
John Lowe: CEO & Co-Owner
Originally from Ohio, John has always had a passion for creating, building, and figuring out how things work. From small woodworking projects in his early years to working with metal as a welder, he’s spent much of his life making things with his own two hands. After moving to Charleston, John and his wife, Marie, started Teklowe Design together in 2000. His hands-on experience and natural curiosity have become a big part of what makes Teklowe Design unique. John is known for thinking outside the box and finding creative solutions when a project seems challenging—or even impossible. For John, there’s almost always a way to get the job done. He enjoys the process of taking an idea, working through the possibilities, and turning it into something real. That determination and can-do attitude have helped shape Teklowe Design from the very beginning. When he’s not working, John’s passion for classic cars keeps him busy. He enjoys visiting car shows around town, always taking time to appreciate the craftsmanship and character of each car. John also enjoys working on his own classic car projects in his free time, putting his hands-on skills to use and enjoying the challenge of bringing each project to life.
Marie Lowe: Office Manager & Co-Owner
Born and raised in Sweden, Marie has called the United States home since 1993. In 2000, she and her husband, John, took a leap of faith and started Teklowe Design together. With more than 35 years of experience across the hospitality and boating industries, Marie’s background includes customer service, management, and sales. Her years working in hotels, restaurants, and with a boating company have given her a strong understanding of what it means to take care of people and build lasting relationships. She truly enjoys getting to know her customers and making sure everyone who walks through the door feels welcomed, valued, and well taken care of.. After spending time working outside the business over the years, she has always remained connected to Teklowe Design behind the scenes. In 2025, she returned to the business full-time and has truly enjoyed being back in the day-to-day operations. She especially loves reconnecting with customers, contributing to the creative process, and working alongside John and the entire Teklowe Design team. When she’s not at work, Marie loves staying active and you’ll often find her on the tennis court, taking a long walk, cooking something delicious, or traveling and exploring new places. For Marie, life is all about good food, good company, and making time for the people and experiences that matter most.
Erik Lowe: Lead Installer
As the son of John and Marie, Erik has been part of Teklowe Design for nearly as long as he can remember. He officially started working alongside his dad at just 15 years old, spending his summers learning the business and gaining hands-on experience that has grown into an important role within the company. Today, Erik is one of Teklowe Design’s “right hands”—someone the team can always count on to jump in, get the job done, and find a solution when a project presents a challenge. Like his dad, John, Erik has a natural creativity and enjoys figuring out the best way to bring even the more complicated projects to life. As our Lead Installer, Erik works closely with customers in the field, making sure every detail is right from the very beginning. He takes precise measurements, creates detailed templates when needed, and approaches every installation with a careful eye for accuracy and craftsmanship. Erik’s combination of hands-on experience, creativity, and attention to detail makes him an invaluable part of the Teklowe Design team—and someone our customers can feel confident having in their home or business.
